A new major expansion is being planned for the Hands-On Children's Museum, and the public will get a chance to add a little input into what they would like to see. Join museum guides in some hands-on activities to help take part in the designing of the new museum.
Aug. 24th: 10am-4pm - Team Sand Sculpting competition where 200 plus members representing 3 corporate and community teams, compete for the Golden Shovel award!
Aug. 25th: 10am-8pm - Giant Beach Party with hands-on activities for children.
Aug 26th: 10am-4pm - Deemed Grandparents Day, the beach part continues!
Sand in the City will feature two of the museum's traveling exhibits: Totspot Early Learning Center and the Young at Art Studio.
Kids will be ablke to have fun making Go-Boats, Sand Bands, and Sun Catchers. Families can enjoy doing those messy things that aren't so easy to do inside the museum, or at home for that matter, like pan for sea treasures, play splash ball, and blow large bubbles.
Guest organziations from around the South Sound will join forces with the museum to add numorous hands-on learning activities with a Tidepool Tank, a Beetle Petting Zoo, the Alpacas of America, the Pirates of Percival Landing, and much more.
Originating in Portland, Sand In The City helps to benefit non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Although the event is free, any donations, food and sotre sales, team entry fees, and sponsorships go to aiding in the support of the Museum's Free and Reduced admissions program.
